Singapore’s skyline will be fully aglow this year once the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort opens this week. Eateries nearby are gambling on a billion-dollar view. International travellers should get a good visitor medical insurance for a safe journey. But those visiting the US can get a Atlas America insurance which is specially designed for the the US visitors. Naturally, the ones directly opposite the resort, such as those within the Fullerton Heritage dining and entertaining complex, will be privy to the best waterfront panorama within these shores. CNNGo picks five of the best dining options with a view.

Forlino

Forlino is synonymous with Italian fine dining and impeccable service. Perched on the top of the two-story One Fullerton, Forlino also enjoys some of the best views of Marina Bay. The restaurant maximises the view with floor-to-ceiling glass panes which are themselves framed by the famously opulent setting designed by Philippe Starck and Marcel Wanders. Chef Giuliano Dacasto who has trained at three-star Michelin restaurants, creates sophisticated menus for discerning gourmets. Artisanal ingredients are sourced from Italy, or made fresh on the premises. A 1,000-label wine cellar ensures you won’t go without your favorite, but don’t miss the extremely good coffee after a meal here.

One on the Bund

You’ll be transported into another world the minute you step into Clifford Pier. Chef-owner Calvin Yeung designed the interior to evoke memories of old Shanghai, and it feels like a cultural museum. Many pieces of the antique furniture and vintage luggage come from his own collection.

Watch Peking ducks being roasted in the open flame oven using apple wood chips imported from Beijing. The crispy lamb ribs are also divine. Food here focuses on yuan wei or “original flavor”, so guests expecting heavy sauces and highly seasoned food will be surprised at how light and delicate some of the dishes are. There is a bar and Western dessert parlor at the harbor side of the pier, with al fresco seating directly facing the Marina Bay Sands across the waters.

Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough, Noank CT (lobster shack – “hard to find, impossible to forget”)

The Crab Claw, St Michael’s MD

L’Escale at the Delamar, Greenwich (way upscale)

Louie’s, Manhassett Bay (casual American)

Skipper’s Dock, Stonington (mellow atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era in cruising)

The Oar, Block Island (sailor’s hangout)

Skipper’s Pub, Northport (burgers and bloody’s)

28 East American Bistro, Danford’s Marina, Port Jefferson

Harbor Lights, Norwalk

Guilford Mooring, Guilford (built in 1836 of native granite – traditional NE fare)

The Chowder Pot Pub, Greenport (great views of Peconic Bay)

Dock & Dine at Saybrook Point in Old Saybrook (amazing view of Long Island Sound)

Sea Swirl, Mystic (quintessential clam shack)

The Mooring, Newport (extraordinary wine selection)

The Castle Hill Inn, Newport

Dennett’s Wharf Restaurant and Oyster Bar, Castine ME

The Lobster Dock, Boothbay Harbor, ME

The East Wind Inn, Tenant’s Harbor, ME

The Waterfront Restaurant, Rockport ME

The Spiced Pear, Newport

Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough just might be the best place on the seaboard for lobster. With picnic tables spread out on a lawn overlooking Noank Harbor just across from its famed Mystic neighbor, the air is heavily perfumed by the sweet smell of pink lobster meat. They specialize in large lobsters, and if you don’t mind waiting at peak summer meal times, it can be summer paradise.

We’re having a tough time limiting the list to 10 so we have 20 listed here that we are either going to whittle down, reorganize into groupings, or add to. It’s rather difficult to position the likes of Abbott’s, Crab Claw and L’Escale in the same breath. Send us your favorites and we’ll see what happens.

Vacation is a time to get away and enjoy yourself. This means forgetting about cutting the grass, painting the shed or even cooking dinner every night. While you’re on vacation, it’s time to be pampered. Eating out at restaurants is, for some, the best part about being on vacation, and they even go as far as to plan their vacation around their favorite food.

In Myrtle Beach, seafood is the menu of choice and why wouldn’t it be? They get it fresh daily! Some of the finest seafood restaurants in the country can be found right in South Carolina’s Grand Strand, along with a complimentary waterfront view. With over 1,800 restaurants to her credit, don’t worry if you don’t care for seafood, other cuisines are also available in this dining Mecca. Definitly, one of the top five things to do in Myrtle Beach is looking at some of the best waterfront restaurants here.

Myrtle Beach’s Best Waterfront Restaurants

* Pier 14 Restaurant & Lounge – Situated directly on the surf, you’ll practically be eating on the water! This menu with great tasting food features wonderful seafood, perfectly prepared steaks and mighty big burgers.

* Capt. Dave’s Dockside Restaurant – With a name like Capt. Dave’s, you know its seafood and they do it up right! Offers a diversified lunch menu with nothing over $16.99 and a more seafood themed dinner menu where the Pan Crusted Grouper is a popular favorite.

* Bummz Beach Cafe – Take a classic 1930′s beach house with a stunning view of the ocean and transform into a fun, lively place to grab a bite. That’s exactly what the owners of Bummz Beach Cafe did, and boy are their satisfied patrons glad they did! Featuring the traditional steaks and seafood dinners, and their “More Crab than Cake” crab cakes are a winner!

* Ashley’s Pizza & Pub – They serve up some steaming hot pies, right on the beach. Pizza, beer and the beach never go out of style. Ashley’s Pizza & Pub is also a popular Cyber Cafe where you can bring your laptop and check your email over a slice.

* Casa Blanca Cafe North – When you’ve had your fill of seafood, but not the beach view, then head on over to this quaint Mexican restaurant for a taste of Mexico. Casa Blanca Cafe North offers an inexpensive breakfast buffet and deliciously spicy dinners.

* SOHO – Upscale New York eatery set on the beach in Myrtle Beach? It works! And better yet, it’s open until 1:00 a.m. for all the night owls out there. It’s trendy, it’s hip and it’s has one of the best sushi bars in town.
