Mention this title today to anyone and they will deem you’re joking. Who really would have ever made a movie called THEY SAVED HITLER’S BRAIN? … well, I’ve seen the movie, and I have the DVD now, and I level-headed don’t know who would have made this kind of movie… but here it is. Started in the 1950’s and completed by a few UCLA students in the 1960’s and then finally released to the world, T.S.H.B. is considered by many to be the apt “worst movie ever made”. Does it retract any direct from Concept NINE? Oh yes, this is indeed a abominable movie all around… yet made by experienced people. The 1960’s additional scenes back merely as exposition, filling in the missing details and information and star a Young Ron Jeremy type working with the CID, who is partnered with a Well-Fed Alicia Silverstone wannabe dressed as a ready and able (and seemingly willing) school girl (who is perhaps the best actor in the 60’s footage) who drives a beat up VW Bug. They are not in it for long, and are in fact killed off… ample surprise. As for the rest of the movie… it’s a trial. Painful. A lawful test of will… can you sit through it? RHINO has done a superb job with the transfer and actually has added perhaps one of the best, and funniest, antimated menu’s I’ve ever seen on any DVD. It features the head of Hitler spouting some unintelligable German. His eyebrows recede, his mouth, and his head dances around when he talks… very peculiar, but lay down droll. I recommend this movie, and I recommend buying this DVD if only to note your friends that you actually possess something called… THEY SAVED HITLERS BRAIN.

Oh what a hoot. I’m giving this film 5 stars for a different reason. Movies that are so terrible they are ‘good’ invent my day. ‘Cat Women of the Moon’, ‘Plan 9 from Outer Space’, and ‘Robot Monster’ all have a positive charm that exceeds the valid film. ‘They saved Hitler’s Brain’ is another such movie. I give it 5 stars when thrown on with other illustrious abominable movies, it holds it’s acquire. It has everything a awful movie fan could want. An inane space, mediocre acting at best, and the over the top ‘not so special’ effects.

A diminutive Carribean Island called Manduras is a hideout for Nazis who want to seize over the world. And why shouldn’t they try again? Der Fuhrer is among them as a head in a glass jar. Guess that’s where Matt Groening got the concept for his fabulous ‘Futurama’ cartoon explain. Listening to the puny Hitler head in the glass jar barking out orders is fair a hoot. I also loves how he fair moves his eyes from side to side looking all improper and stuff.

My two approved scenes are the car swagger and hotel fight. The car scramble is correct out of the mind of Ed Wood. They open driving in daylight, then the headlights are on in the dismal, then at the atomize, it’s light again. Intellectual! It’s too poor that agent died. With that hair and mustache he looked like Sony Bono meets Journey’s Steve Perry. His very appearance was pure camp. Then you got the hotel scene. She hits the despicable guy with the lamp. How could she be so lifeless?

That haunting song has been stuck in my head ever since I saw this four-part BBC miniseries. It was a stroke of genius to incorporate this folk tune into the soundtrack (peaceful by Take Lane), which sums up the mood and aura of this tragic legend of a young woman wronged so unjustly by two men. Gemma Arterton is improbable as Tess Durbeyfield, probably Thomas Hardy’s most well-loved heroine, exploited by her ignorant parents into claiming valid heritage and discarded by 19th century society. Hans Matheson is Alec Stoke-d’Urberville, the wealthy cad who violates her, unknowingly impregnates her with a child who doesn’t survive babyhood and later comes help into her life as a supposedly reformed preacher. Eddie Redmayne is Angel Clare, the seemingly kind-hearted and tolerant parson’s son who wins Tess’s treasure but proves to be objective as hypocritical as his religious family and his actions bring Tess to despair. As in most Hardy tales, tragedy looms a grand shadow over the lives of his characters.

Arterton’s Tess is matched perfectly by Matheson’s Alec, who is given more depth than any of the earlier film adaptations. The shaded and tormented essence gives you the sense how doomed these two characters really are – their actions and words toward each other leads to their downfall. Unfortunately, the same cannot be applied to Redmayne’s Angel, who looks befuddled and lost more than half the time. There is a rushed directorial glide in the second installment that hurts the romantic appeal between Tess and Angel, and the savor anecdote element seems a bit forced as a result. Because of that, I didn’t accumulate the appeal of Angel in this one, or why Tess and her fellow dairymaids were in savor with him, or why Tess takes the desperate course of action in order to accumulate him benefit. Some of the unusual dialogue archaic did hold away from the affect of the legend, and Redmayne seemed to have a hard time keeping up with Arterton performance-wise. Redmayne redeemed himself somewhat in the final episode but for the most section I was unimpressed with him. However, director David Blair must grasp some of the criticism, as the hurried scenes to achieve the “romance” seemed to hover over the parts of the fresh that gave the lovers the attachment to one another that eventually leads Angel to seek the error of his ways and beg his wife’s forgiveness. I was anticipating Alec’s return so mighty that I found myself not really caring if Angel came wait on for Tess or not. In enchanting disagreement, the 1998 A&E/London Weekend Television production had me rooting for Tess and Angel’s reunion even though I was aware of the outcome. I was so taken by Angel in that one, whereas here I found nothing in him to be slightly radiant or romantic. I sympathized with Tess completely and neither man deserved her, but at least in the other version and the fresh I could gawk why she loved Angel and longed for him to return to her. I found myself almost rooting for Alec (I never idea I’d say that), because Matheson was so compelling and magnetic and he and Arterton generated such electricity, I couldn’t occupy my eyes off them. Alec’s fleeting conversion to Christianity and his sermon in the tent that Tess stumbles upon is foreshadowing of the path these two ill-fated characters will slay up on. The moment he lays eyes on her again, his fatal attraction and curved fancy for her resurfaces and consumes him, and Tess finds herself increasingly helpless to refuse his succor after her father dies and her family is left destitute. Alec’s wealth is the only contrivance he can hold her and he is aware of that, but he is willing to derive her the only diagram he can, only to leer that fate does indeed play a vengeful hand. It was also nice to spy Tess revisiting her child’s grave and placing novel flowers upon it; her deeply felt sense of loss and rejection by both the church and her village is searingly devastating because it becomes all the more obvious that she is victim of both society (in which women had few advantages) and fate. Having said that, Tess and Angel’s reunion did not have the emotional impact it should have had, the sex scene was unnecessary, but the Stonehedge sequence was an emotional powerhouse for Arterton, as was the climax of her walking off to her fate with her signature tune heard wistfully in the background. The supporting cast was in top construct, and while the cinematography was glowing, it could have emphasized far more considering how notable landscape is in Hardy’s work, as both the 1998 two piece program and Roman Polanski’s 1979 film have demonstrated. As a four-part miniseries, it had the opportunity to include more scenes from the modern and insight into character, particularly Angel, which would have helped the region a titanic deal. However, it was beneficial to ogle the mausoleum scene and the ending was heartbreaking and lively, although my tears were for Tess, her sister Liza-Lu, and, dare I say it, even Alec, but I felt nothing for Angel (although Redmayne’s tearful breakdown was by far his best moment) .

On the whole, this was a very obliging presentation, my second common version and very powerful worth seeing. Arterton and Matheson give tour-de-force portrayals; it would be gargantuan if they would co-star again, some have suggested as Cathy and Heathcliff in “Wuthering Heights” – I could definitely peek that. And that song will linger on in your memory long after the final credits have rolled, as will the rest of the find.

I’ve never read the book before, and this was my first time watching a film adaptation of this myth. Its silly because I accidentally started watching it, but within a few minutes I found myself captivated by this movie. By the waste of the first two hours I found myself hating Alec for what he did to Tess. However, advance the slay I almost started liking him, which really surprised me. Even though he was a awful person his character was a tortured soul. He cared for Tess as great as he could care for anyone. He even tried to develop things suitable by marrying her. I actually felt sorry for him as she kept rejecting him. I knew that he had never changed, but I felt that he really did care for her. Perhaps it was more so lust than just care for that he had for her. I also felt sorry for Tess. I felt sorry for both of them if that is possible. I didn’t quite understand the whole mistress thing though. I came to the conclusion that he wanted to marry her, but he couldn’t because she was legally composed married to Angel. She was his only lover though, so in theory they were married, but fair not legally. Perhaps Alec didn’t deserve death either. He told her that her husband wouldn’t arrive befriend, but even Tess belief he wouldn’t near encourage. I didn’t mediate he was coming befriend either. I understand that she was exacting revenge upon the man who had essentially ruined her life. However, she also played a fraction in her beget destruction. I felt her biggest downfall was telling Angel about her past. I affirm that was fragment of her characteristic purity. Angel was not as effective of a character as Tess, or Alec. I didn’t disfavor him, or like him remarkable. He was a wet mop of a character. His weakness was animated though because it almost made it seem that Alec was more in treasure with Tess, or at least more passionate. Fate played a great fraction in everything else that happened to Tess. It seemed as though the destroy of Alec was her intention of finally taking fate into her enjoy hands. Anyway, this movie had me crying for quite a while. The ending where she recreates the May Dance scene was also tragic. The only plan for her to have had a jubilant ending would have been if Angel had fallen in appreciate with her before she fell from grace. I took peace in the fact that at least she was situation free in the slay. In any case, this is a haunting myth that lingers in the mind.

“Next Day Air” is a convoluted but bright sad comedy that has the conviction to perform gangsters and drug dealers seem like people you would want to root for. It’s a chronicle of hapless people in an equally hapless dwelling, and yet director Benny Thunder and writer Blair Cobbs aren’t so melodramatic that they fail to look the humor in it all; many moments are genuinely droll, at times in that blatant screwball arrangement, at other times in that underhanded plan that makes you mediate about what was said and by whom. The clever structure helps a immense deal, every scene so carefully paced that the whole thing runs like clockwork. One of the film’s best scenes may seem like an certain gimmick, but it works honest the same. Brody calls Shavoo to mutter him about the ten bricks. In spite of this, there are specific passages of dialogue that can actually beget the audience contemplate, if only for a moment or two. Occupy, for example, an ongoing argument between Brody and Guch about the nature of family; while Brody is convinced that Shavoo is acting honestly, Guch believes that no one, not even conclude family members, can be trusted. That may, in fact, be the funniest thing about this movie (although I laughed attractive hard at a scene featuring Jesus practicing his stick-up routine in front of a mirror, each time using a bigger gun) . Clearly, “Next Day Air” is a lot smarter than it lets on.

From the previews and commercials I concept this movie was going to be a straight through comedy but I was frightened to rep out that it actually had a myth to go with it. From beginning to demolish it kept my attention throughout. Don’t rep me atrocious it was a humorous movie but it wasn’t a punchline after punchline type of movie. Check it out, you will be very surprised as I was.

Major Nelson is glowing, and qualified hearted and has finally learned that he cant control Jeannie and is coming to terms with his feelings for her.

Major Healy is his selfish yet lovable best friend(who knows about Jeannie) .

Dr Bellows is the military residence spoiled psychiatrist who is always getting into grief with all the Generals because he cant demonstrate something is amiss with Major Nelson.

This season Jeannies mother shows up to give Major Nelson more misery.

Her dog shows up to bring havoc at the Place disagreeable.

Even her baby nephew makes an appearance on the exhibit.

This is simply the best sitcom to ever hit the TV hide.

UP there with Exiguous House and Quantum Leap.

Nothing can beat classic entertainment.

I must say, so far, my approved episodes of this present would be found in the fourth disc of this season, because Tony and Jeannie’s relationship really seems to transform here, they become a runt more affectionate towards each other (which is impartial so nice to gawk), and it gives the display a limited more umph.

I really cannot wait to look them earn married, their chemistry is stunning, which is a key factor to the shows success.

While Columbia studios’ TEN WANTED MEN is not a top drawer Western like COMANCHE Site or Lunge LONESOME of a few years later, it is never less than entertaining—the kind of “smart B” feature that enthralled sagebrush-addicts aid in the 1950s. Certainly this is no Budd Boetticher directed product, and it lacks his resplendent, distinctive touches, but there is enough action to support any fan glued to his TV area. Richard Boone, who appeared in a number of Randy Scott’s 1950s Westerns (most notably in THE Astronomical T), stands out as a superbly drawn villain. And Scott is always righteous.

This 1961 version of Sophocle’s tragic drama “Antigone” will not work as an introduction to Greek tragedy. The play is performed in Greek (with subtitles), so I would never recommend it as the first exposure any one has to the performance of an mature play; there is a 1972 version with Genevieve Bujold that would better benefit. However, this particular version does offer Irene Pappas, long considered one of the greatest of Greek actresses, in one of the greatest roles in the nation’s history (the only thing better would be to contemplate her beget “Medea”–or maybe Clytemnestra in the “Orestia”) . Of course, when “Antigone” was first performed women were not allowed to be actresses; in fact, the only women allowed in the theater of Dionysus in Athens were prostitutes. Pappas is a shade too aged for the role, but there is a sense in which performing these plays is more akin to opera than old theater. Besides, she plays up Antigone’s stubborn wander in a plan that gives entirely unique shadings to mighty of the play.

Following the ending of “Oedipus the King,” Oedipus was exiled from Thebes, blind and a beggar. We also learn from “Oedipus at Colonus” that his sons, Eteocles and Polyneices engaged in a civil war for the throne of Thebes. The two brothers extinguish each other and Creon (Manos Katrakis), brother of Jocasta, becomes king. He orders that Eteocles, who nobly defended his city, shall receive an advantageous burial, but that Polyneices, for leading the Argive invaders, shall be left unburied. This leads Antigone (Pappas), sister to both of the slain brothers, to have to decide between obeying the rule of the plot, the dictates of familial binds, and the will of the gods.

It is too easy to study the issues of this play, first performed in the 5th century B.C., as being reflected in a host of more contemporary concerns, where the conscience of the individual conflicts with the dictates of the region. The conflict in “Antigone” is not so positive cut: Creon has the honest to punish a traitor and to question trusty citizens to obey. Ismene (Maro Kodou), Antigone’s sister, chooses to obey, but Antigone takes a different path. The fact that the “burial” of her brother consists of the token gesture of throwing dirt upon his face, only serves to underscore the ambiguity of the residence Sophocles is developing. Even though the playwright strips Creon of his son, Haemon (Nikos Kazis) and wife, Eurydice (Ilia Livykou) by the waste of the drama, it is not a fatal verdict rendered against the king’s judgment, but rather the playing out of the tragedy to its grim conclusion.

The more you know about the conventions of the Greek theater, the more you will delight in this filmed performances. The cast manages to contain the formalities of the venerable drama while infusing the performances with more unusual, naturalistic techniques of acting. Pappas is at the center of the performance unbiased as her character is at the heart of the play. I have seen her in a few roles where she has performed in English, but they only hinted at the legendary passions she displays in this film. This is the one for which you will remember Irene Pappas as an actress.

Irene Pappas is terrific as Antigone, and Manos Katrakis very impressive as Creon (with occasional moments of overacting) . Despite the presence of hundreds of extras, the costumes and settings perceive a bit cheesy by today’s standards. But with a fable this stout, and acting to match, it seems nit-picky to complain.

Unfortunately, the DVD was made from a dirty print. No restoration appears to have been attempted, and the video compression quality is very dreadful. Even so, this disc is a must-see for lovers of classic Greek drama and fans of Irene Pappas.

It’s hard to report how Flight of the Conchords is so silly in the same device it’s hard to narrate how clear faces Dwight, Jim, Or Pam accomplish to the camera on The Office are laughable. There accents and mannerisms alone are hilarious.

I’d recommend checking out HBO’s website click on Flight of the Conchords and check out the lyrics to some of the songs on different episodes, also humorous stuff.

I contemplate fans of Seinfeld, The Office, and This is Spinal tap will really indulge in and anyone who gets subtle humor, looking for something novel.

I mean advance on… nothing? Really?

So if you’ve never seen the reveal, or missed a few episodes, if you do not have HBO and impartial want to watch what you’ve missed – by all means: I highly recommend this series.

If like me, you have HBO, a DVR, and have seen all the episodes, maybe even more than once, then… you might be a bit disappointed.

I do have to say that the storytelling in the OVA does a lot more than the TV series to lessen the confusion of us English viewers who are without the new novels or manga to work from. However, if you haven’t seen the TV series you may be a bit confused anyway about what is going on. They don’t go into very noteworthy detail about the backstory of the characters, what happened between them 400 years ago, or even really what happened in the TV series (particularly between Naoe and Takaya) . The only thing they really include from the TV series is the final words between Takaya and Naoe at the very raze of episode 13.

The focus of the OVA is threefold:

First, there is the fresh Feudal Underworld threat, centering around this man, Araki, who bears a striking resemblace to Ayako’s lover from 200 years previously. Takaya is particularly cruel to Naoe in this series, and Naoe for his section, is even more crazy than he was in the TV series. It is almost mindblowing how hard they are both fighting for dominance. Takaya’s last words to Naoe at the demolish of episode 3 about what Naoe has to do to “have” him are striking, and leave the door launch to not only another series, but also limitless potential among fan circles for inspired fiction.

This DVD is definitely NOT recommended for anyone under at least the age of 16, even though the DVD is rated 13+. Deem that melancholy scene between Takaya and Naoe in episode 7 of the TV series and magnify it by ten in the second episode of the OVA. “Unflinching,” “intense” or even “tactless” are genuine words to expend to record what happens. If the homosexual overtones (or for that matter, rape) of the series made you sorrowful, I suggest passing on the OVA. However, pay end attention to the flashback (if you can avoid averting your eyes, it’s dazzling intense in itself) that Takaya has during this scene. It reveals at least allotment of the reason for his reluctance to acquire Naoe’s affections. It is truely insightful for us viewers to work with who only had sketchy details about what happened between the two 400 years ago when they were on opposing sides, and even less about them individually. The whole thing about what Naoe did to Takaya and this woman that he loved (or something) at the time is sidestepped in the OVA, perhaps unfortunately, since I at least needed some clarification.

As for all the other characters from the TV series there is no mention of Takeda, Ranmaru, the Fuuma ninjas or any of our other common badguys. Furthermore, Yuzuru and Chiaka have very minute cameos at the beggining of the first episode, and then we practically don’t perceive them at all afterwards. So, any Yuzuru and Chiaki fans may be disappointed.

The DVD includes textless opening, closing, and three separate interviews with the Japanese utter actors who played Takaya, Naoe and Ayako that were presumably originally released with each episode of the OVA in Japan. The DVD also comes with a bonus animeworks catalogue with some sneak peeks at episode 1 of Samurai Deeper Kyo and Twelve Kingdoms.

We can only hope for more localized Mirage of Blaze in the future. Whether that be more series, or yaoi manga translations or even dare we hope, the modern novels…

Firstly, I’d like to point out that I have been waiting for this DVD ever since I found out that it was in production. I have been a long time fanatic of the Mirage of Blaze (Honoo no Mirage), and I was rather disappointed with the abrupt ending of the first series, Mirage of Blaze TV.

Thankfully, this unique OVA picks up good where the last episode left off.

I was immediately struck by how different the characters seemed. This series digs a lot deeper into the loyal reasons unhurried everyone’s involvement in the Feudal Underworld, especially that of Haruie.

But to be perfectly objective, the accurate driving point of the legend, at least for myself, is the constant battling and overall angst of Takaya and Naoe. Naoe, in particular, seems noteworthy different than he was in the TV series. He begins to fight encourage, in his hold plan, against Takaya’s consistent inability to gain a decision regarding his feelings towards Naoe.

This is the fragment where I express you that if you’re into this series for the yaoi, this is where the getting gets worthy. The insinuating overtones are a thing of the past, and as soon as you perceive the second episode on the DVD, Tiger’s Search For, you’ll gaze exactly what I mean. This DVD, by the plan, is rated 13+.
